Minooka’s rich history has its ties with the coming of the railroad. The village was founded in 1852 by rail surveyor, Randall Gardner. The village moniker was derived from the Pottawatomi word for “good land” which perfectly describes the area. The Village of Minooka was incorporated on March 27, 1869 and is home to an expanding population of over 10,000 people. Since 2000, Minooka has seen a 133% percent growth rate. In addition, Minooka is in top 5 towns in Illinois for residential growth. The blending of distinctive, mature residences with newly constructed single-family homes accentuates the area’s attractive appearance. Minooka reveals the tradition of steady growth while maintaining a family orientated atmosphere.

BUSINESS
As the influx of new residents and neighborhoods continues to grow, so does the expansion of retail offerings. TRANSPORTATION
Minooka is situated 50 miles southwest of Chicago’s bustling downtown. Conveniently nestled between Interstate 80 and 55, which provides a nationwide east west route.
HEALTHCARE
Just northeast of the Arbor Lakes community, residents have convenient access to Morris Hospital Ridge Road Campus providing immediate care services, laboratory, x-ray and digital testing. Morris Hospital is located 10 miles west for emergencies and is equipped with a Level II Trauma Center.

GOVERNMENT
Minooka is governed by a village president, clerk and six trustees who are elected to 4-year terms. The community is served by a full-timepolice and fire district.
