Minooka Schools

Residents of Arbor Lakes in Minooka are part of Minooka Community School District 201, one of the fastest growing elementary school districts in Illinois. Your children can attend pre-kindergarten and kindergarten at the Minooka Primary Center. Students 1st -4th grade attend Aux Sable Elementary School. 5th-6th graders, attend Minooka Intermediate School and Minooka Junior High for 7th-8th graders. Residents can attend Joliet Junior College, the nation’s first public community college, just 10 miles away. There are also highly acclaimed private colleges nearby. Lewis University, just minutes away from Arbor Lakes in Romeoville, is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.

Minooka at a Glance…

Minooka’s rich history has its ties with the coming of the railroad. The village was founded in 1852 by rail surveyor, Randall Gardner. The village moniker was derived from the Pottawatomi word for “good land” which perfectly describes the area. The Village of Minooka was incorporated on March 27, 1869 and is home to an expanding population of over 10,000 people. Since 2000, Minooka has seen a 133% percent growth rate. In addition, Minooka is in top 5 towns in Illinois for residential growth. The blending of distinctive, mature residences with newly constructed single-family homes accentuates the area’s attractive appearance. Minooka reveals the tradition of steady growth while maintaining a family orientated atmosphere.

BUSINESS

As the influx of new residents and neighborhoods continues to grow, so does the expansion of retail offerings. Major chain retailers and smallindependent specialty shops provide residents with a wide array of products and services within a close proximity. Local merchants take pride in adding a personal touch in service and quality. With its ever expanding population, Minooka still maintains that small town atmosphere. In addition, Grainger has opened a one million square foot facility in Minooka which has added many job possibilities for residents.

TRANSPORTATION

Minooka is situated 50 miles southwest of Chicago’s bustling downtown. Conveniently nestled between Interstate 80 and 55, which provides a nationwide east west route.

HEALTHCARE

Just northeast of the Arbor Lakes community, residents have convenient access to Morris Hospital Ridge Road Campus providing  immediate care services, laboratory, x-ray and digital testing. Morris Hospital is located 10 miles west for emergencies and is equipped with a Level II Trauma Center.

GOVERNMENT

Minooka is governed by a village president, clerk and six trustees who are elected to 4-year terms. The community is served by a full-timepolice and fire district.
